2. COMPOSITION / INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS.

2.1 CHEMICAL DESCRIPTION.

Controlled blend of accelerated calcium sulphate, calcium hydroxide, expanded perlite aggregate
and limestone flour with organic additives. MEL/OEL

Calcium hydroxide: Less than 2% wt 5mg/m3

2.2 HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS.

3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION.

Intuchem Mortar has no hazard classification according to 88/379/EEC. Addition of water to
all similar products that contains lime release alkalis which may cause irritation to the skin and eyes

.
Respirable dust from any fine powders could, if inhaled over a prolonged period, constitute a health
hazard. The current Occupational Exposure Standards for the above dust should not be exceeded.
Ingress into waterways may cause discolouration. BOD may be harmful to aquatic organisms.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES.

4.1 EYE CONTACT.
Wash out with plenty of clean water or sterile eye solution.

4.2 SKIN CONTACT.
No acute symptoms. Wash off with soap and water. If eye or skin irritation persists seek medical
advice.

4.3 INGESTION.
Symptoms: Nausea. Give water to drink. Seek medical advice.

4.4 INHALATION.
Symptoms: Choking, coughing, dizziness.

Remove to fresh air. Seek medical advice.

Prevent ingress into drains and waterways, as this can cause permanent blockage.
Spillage should be contained.

7.1 STORAGE.

Ideally between 5 and 25oC and indoors above ground in dry well ventilated conditions are recommended.

7.2 RECOMMENDED SHELF LIFE.

Six months is a normal accepted limit.

7.3 HANDLING.

Intuchem Mortar should be handled in such a way as to minimise the creation of air borne
material.

Wear approved anti-dust goggles and a dust mask particularly during mixing.
For general handling of wet or dry mortar suitable protective clothing and gloves are recommended.

Intuchem Mortar is miscible with water and likely to be transported as milky dispersion to
considerable distance if allowed to ingress into water. Also, the product will set hard to cause
permanent blockage.

The mortar in powder or set form is not biodegradable and in water becomes alkaline.
Biological oxygen demand for other components may be harmful to aquatic organisms.

 

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS.

Dry or wet mortar is not classified as hazardous waste. Any waste from dry powder, wet mix or set
mortar can be separated from any other waste for landfill or incinerating.
Observe Local and National Regulations regarding waste disposal.
