2. COMPOSITION / INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS.

2.1 CHEMICAL DESCRIPTION.

Water based mastic of a vinal acetate - acrylate emulsion with inert ablative fillers and stabilisers.

2.2 HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS.

Vinyl Acetate: Less than 2% wt.

Poly-acrylate: Less than 0.004% by wt.

Fungicide: 700 ppm by wt.

 

3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION.

On availible data, Intuchem Intumescent Acoustic Sealant has no hazard classification according to 88/379/EEC.

May cause soreness if product enters the eyes. Repeated or prolonged skin contact may cause defatting and lead to irritation.

Ingress into waterways may cause discolouration. BOD may be harmful to aquatic organisms.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES.

4.1 EYE CONTACT.

Wash out with plenty of clean water or sterile eye wash solution.

4.2 SKIN CONTACT.

Wash off with soap and water. If eye or skin irritation persists seek medical advice.

4.3 INGESTION.

Ideally between 10 and 30oC and indoors in dry well ventilated conditions are recommended.

Can be indefinite but 2 years (if kept dry) is a normal accepted limit.

Intuchem Intumescent Acoustic Sealant is a water based mastic and it may be used with disposable gloves.

Intuchem Intumescent Acoustic Sealant miscible with water and likely to be transported as milky dispersion to considerable distance if allowed to ingress into water.

The Intuchem Intumescent Acoustic Sealant is not bio-degradable and in water becomes alkaline. Biological oxygen demand for other components may be harmful to aquatic organisms.

Low concentration of Intuchem Intumescent Acoustic Sealant in water for sewage tretment are unlikley to reduce sludge activity; the binder and other solids are largely absorbed on the sludge, and thus eliminated from the waste stream.

 

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS.

Any waste is considered non-hazardous and therefore it can be incinerated in a suitable facility or disposed of on an approved land fill site, provided the Local Regulations are observed, once dryed to a solid form.
