Installing Fire Grilles & Face Plates
Grilles are available either square, rectangular or circular form.
The largest single size is 600mm x600m or the equalivent square area
(ie 800x400). The total maximum size permitted is 1500mm x 1000mm using
a combination of fire grilles of the sizes available and fixing together
with steel straps.
For installation in fire doors simply cut a hole in the fire door
to suit the size of the intumescent fire grille, ensure the aperture
is now clean and free from dust.
Run a small bead of Intuchem intumescent sealant around the perimeter
of the intumescent air transfer grille and push to a tight fitting within
the aperture.
When the door or wall is thicker than the fire grille, fit the grille
flush to the face of the structure at most risk.
Secure the fire grille in place with steel screws, one in each corner
both sides of the fire grille and at 150mm centers, screws must be of
an adequate length depending on the application.
Face fit Intuchem Steel Louvered Cover plates to either side of the
door or wall to afford more protection for the fire grille and for a
more aesthetically pleasing finish.
